One of the most in demand musicians in Los Angeles, Michael Kallin enjoys a varied career in many facets of the city's music scene.

No stranger to the concert stage, Dr. Kallin has performed in a wide variety of musical styles. As a freelance trumpeter Michael has performed across Europe and Asia, in pop and orchestral settings, as well as being a featured soloist, and recording for film and television. Michael has also worked closely with many of Los Angeles’ top talent including conducting performances featuring principal musicians from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Long Beach Symphony, Pacific Symphony, and Pasadena Symphony.

In addition to his performance career, Dr. Kallin is deeply involved in the music preparation for the highest tier projects in film and television. With knowledge of multiple DAW softwares, Finale, Sibelius, and Dorico, Michael has worked in nearly every capacity in music preparation and brings with him a unique depth of expertise bolstered by his breadth of training as a concert musician. Serving as a recording session supervisor, Dr. Kallin has managed recordings at Warner Brothers, in Budapest, Germany, and other Los Angeles recording stages.

Dr. Kallin is also a prolific educator, having been engaged to give classes at the University of Southern California, the Colburn Community School, the University of California, Irvine, and Concordia University. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara (BM 2014) and the USC Thornton School of Music (MM 2016, DMA 2021), Dr. Kallin feels strongly about sharing his knowledge and experience with the future generations of music makers. His students have won multiple awards as well as positions in local youth orchestras. 

Michael’s primary teachers include Thomas Hooten (LAPO, Principal Trumpet), Boyde Hood (LAPO retired), Jennifer Marotta, and Grant Hungerford.
